Fritz is a 1920s Berlin-inspired cocktail bar in Fort Greene, Brooklyn created by Ayana and Tobias, the German couple behind the popular Black Forest Brooklyn restaurants. Fritz has an open yet intimate interior space and a beautiful and cozy backyard space that is partially covered.
Fritz is the perfect space to host a variety of events, from birthdays to weddings to bridal showers to corporate parties. From an intimate seated gathering for 20 under the stars in our backyard garden to a cocktail reception for 120 guests in the full restaurant, we can accommodate many party sizes.

We can accommodate many party sizes.
For parties up to 10 guests you can simply make a regular reservation on resy, for larger parties please reach out via phone or email.
For parties of 20 or larger, we ask for a minimum consumption guarantee, which depends on the time, duration, guest count and space desired for your event.
The actual minimums for specific spaces can be found under the Spaces and Capacities section below. If you don’t reach the minimum with your actual consumption, no worries, we simply add the difference to your check as a rental fee. To book an event reservation we ask for a deposit in the amount of 50% of your event minimum, which is fully refundable until 2 weeks before the event, and non-refundable after that.
The Spaces and Capacities
Event minimums listed below are for a 2hr event, 3hr event minimums are 1.5 times the listed amount, unless otherwise noted.
Longer timeframes can be arranged upon request. Minimums do not include sales tax and gratuity*.
*For parties of 20 or larger, 20% of gratuity will be added to your check, based on either the event minimum or your final bill, whichever is higher.
The Garden
The back section of our backyard area, the Garden is romantically lit with string lights, open to the sky and well shaded. It is furnished with outdoor dining tables and chairs, which can be removed if desired.
The Garden can host 20 guests for a seated event or 25 guests for a cocktail reception. Minimum $1,000
The Covered Patio
Our patio is covered, heated, has air-conditioning and ceiling fans, and is furnished with lounge chairs and low tables, for a stylish, relaxed vibe.
The Covered Patio can host 20 guests for a seated event or 30 guests for a cocktail reception. Minimum $1,200
If booking the patio only, please note that guests sitting in the garden area will need to enter and exit through the patio space. For full privacy we recommend the full backyard option.
The Full Backyard
For full privacy, and for larger events, take over the full backyard, which consists of the covered patio, and the open garden. No other guests will be in the backyard area during your event.
The Full Backyard can host 40 guests for a seated event or 55 guests for a cocktail reception. Minimum $2,000
Indoor/Outdoor Options + Full Buyouts
Our interior space features dark walls, and gold accents in a modern, Art Deco-inspired design. The walls are adorned with black and white images of 1920s Berlin, and an artist-commissioned large painting. We have high-tops and bar seating in the front area, and booth seating and kitchen counter seats in the back area of the space.
The Indoor Space can either be booked as a whole, or the front or back areas only. Neither the front nor the back area are fully private, yet they are somewhat separated from each other, and perfect for smaller, semi-private groups. The indoor back area can also be added to the covered patio & garden in order to host a larger group without committing to a full buyout.
The Front Area can host 20 guests for a seated event or 30 guests for a cocktail reception (high-tops and bar). Minimum $1,200
The Back Area can host 25 guests for a seated event (booths and kitchen counter). Minimum $1,000
The Back Indoor Space plus Covered Patio can host 45 guests for a seated event or 50 guests for a cocktail reception. Minimum $2,600 for 2hrs, $3,200 for 3hrs (additional hours $600/hr)
The Back Indoor Space plus Covered Patio plus uncovered garden can host 65 guests for a seated event or 80 guests for a cocktail reception. Minimum $2,800 for 2hrs, $3,500 for 3hrs (additional hours $700/hr)
The Full Indoor Space can host 45 guests for a seated event or 60 guests for a cocktail reception. Minimum $4,500 for 2hrs, $5,000 for 3hrs (additional hours $500/hr)
The Full Indoor Space plus Covered Patio can host 65 guests for a seated event or 90 guests for a cocktail reception. Minimum $5,500 for 2hrs, $6,500 for 3hrs (additional hours $1,000/hr)
The whole restaurant (indoors, covered patio and uncovered garden) can host 85 guests for a seated dinner or 115 guests for a cocktail reception. Minimum $5,700 for 2hrs, $6900 for 3hrs (additional hours $1,200/hr)
A note on personal playlists and DJs: For a full indoor booking, or a full restaurant booking, a DJ is a possibility in the indoor space, however they cannot be set up in the patio out of concern for our backyard neighbors. For a full indoor booking, or for a full restaurant buyout we can also play your personal playlist on our speakers. Unfortunately we are not able to play your personal playlist for covered patio and full backyard bookings, because our system does not allow for multiple inputs. But we always have a great playlist running at Fritz!
A note on partial space bookings: for any partial space bookings, please note that the other areas of the restaurant will remain open to other guests during your event. Fritz is a small intimate bar, so the different spaces are not separately accessible from the entrance, you have to walk through one area, to get to the next area. The sequence of the spaces from the entrance is as follows: Front Indoor Space, Back Indoor Space, Covered Patio, Open Garden. If you are concerned about privacy for your event you have the option to include the back spaces in your booking, for example adding the garden space to your patio event, not because you necessarily need it for your guest count, but simply to make it a fully private event. The same goes for a back indoor space plus covered patio reservation, or a full indoor plus covered patio reservation.
Please note that the garden is open to the sky, and while we are able to add umbrellas and other waterproof coverings in case of inclement weather it can not be expected to be a 100% dry space in the case of rain. Even though the garden is not heated we generally operate it year round for walk-ins, weather permitting, so it should not be assumed that the garden is closed during a particular time of year.
Food & Drink Options
The Drinks
Our cocktails are inspired by classic 1920s cocktail recipes, expertly crafted, and given a contemporary Brooklyn update. We can also prepare most classic cocktails, let us know if you have any preferences! Drinks for your event can either be ordered a la carte and billed on consumption, per current menu prices, or you can select one of two beverage packages:
Wine & Beer Package $40/person for 2 hours: Includes all beer, wine and NA beverages. Minimum duration 2hrs, each additional hour $20/person.
Open Bar Package $76/person for 2 hours: Includes 3 different cocktails, select spirits, wine, beer and NA beverages. Minimum duration 2hrs, each additional hour $38/person.
Any beverages outside of our bar packages are charged on consumption, per current menu prices. All beverages (on consumption and/or drink packages) will count toward the minimum.
The Food
Our cocktails are complemented by elevated, seafood-centric bar fare with a German twist, carefully prepared in our wood-fired oven. Food orders for your event can either be ordered a la carte and billed on consumption, per current menu prices, or you can select from one of two food packages. For parties of 45 guests or more, catering orders from our sister restaurant Black Forest Brooklyn next door can also be arranged.
Heavy Appetizers with Oysters and Lobster Rolls $76/person: Plenty of food for a full meal, with all the items from our regular menu, including 6 oysters and 1 lobster roll/person. Platters will be dropped on tables or a buffet station, along with small plates and silverware and guest serve themselves.
Appetizers $45/person: If a full meal is too much, our Hors d'oeuvre option is perfect. A customizable mix of the items from our regular menu, without the oysters and lobster roll option. Platters will be dropped on tables or a buffet station along with small plates and silverware and guest serve themselves.
We charge a plating fee for outside desserts, $25 flat fee for groups up to 20 guests, and $50 flat fee for groups above 20 guests. Alternatively, please ask us about our homemade authentic German cakes, including our famous Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte (Black Forest Cherry Gateau)! All food orders and plating fees will count toward your minimum.
